Wakka was hands-down our absolute favourite hotel during our 3 week holiday. We wish we'd stayed longer there, it's so special. We stayed in a geodesic dome tent right by the water, which was incredible. The tent was well-stocked with a cooler, air conditioning, and storage space, as well as a lovely little private patio. We had to use the shared bathroom and shower room, but that was no problem for us. There is a large Family Mart about 1 km away from the site with everything you could need. We had biked the Shimanami Kaido from Onamichi and were exhausted and sweaty and gross when we arrived. The reception staff welcomed us in with cool towels and iced tea, and helped us get oriented and organized, making suggestions for dinner and activities. Tip: Wakka offers a lot of services, from bike rentals to excursions to meals, and it is worth checking out their website to see what you can add to your stay. For example, their rental bikes looked really nice compared to the ones we rented in Onamichi! We wish we had known more about what they offer beyond what's on Booking.com. This is a full-service facility that even non-paying guests can use (e.g. if you're cycling by, you can stop for a drink at their cafe, or get air for your bike tires, or just rest on their lawn). Really, really wonderful place.

Staying here was supposed to be an overnight stop on a two day bike ride of the Shimanami Kaido. Rain forced us to cancel the ride but we couldn't cancel our reservation. Getting there by bus with all of our bags took some effort but I thought staying in the yurt type tent would be a cool experience. It was pretty cool but I think it would have been more fun if we could have ridden our bikes there. The third bed was a blowup kind of thing that wasn't comfortable so my adult daughter and I shared a bed and that worked out fine. The staff was great, especially working with them before I got to Japan to plan the bike delivery, luggage transfer and bike pickup. All that planning was for naught, as the rain canceled those plans. I was impressed with their quick and thorough replies to all my pre-trip questions. The shuttle service was nice and they accommodated picking us up early from the dinner place we went to, which wasn't that great. They also shuttled us to an Onsen before dinner that was very nice.

I loved this place. Everything was so thought out, and bike riders were well catered for. The yurt was waterfront and looked towards the sunrise location. The accommodation was cosy, clean and had a nice warm feel to it. The lighting was set up to create a nice ambience. I enjoyed the outdoor seating and relaxed at dusk. They had a personal esky/cooler bin in the room with water and enough space to add your own drinks if you wished. It had everything I needed for my mid ride stop over. The food was fantastic, toiletries supplied were very nice, staff were friendly and helpful. The was a convenience store down the road if required. I needed some help with my bike before I set off the next morning and the staff helped me out with their tools, they had a good selection. The shared bathrooms were a short walk, very clean and well maintained.

What a find! I thought this would be a cute tent/cabin stay for a night but this exceeded my expectations. We were biking the Shimanami Kaido and stopped here for the night. I regret not staying here longer as this would have been a great base to explore the island further. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly, and helped us with the facilities (e.g. laundry machine) and nearby recommendations (nearby onsen). Easily accessible by car or bike. We booked the BBQ dinner which ended up being a three course feast (great value for money)! The tent was lovely and very luxurious (with everything and more you'd ever need going glamping, from comfy beds to air-con/heating) and a beautiful sunrise and view of the bridge and island in the distance. We loved biking on the islands and will definitely stay here again in the future!

Quiet off-season but we loved WAKKA and had amazing help from Hitome, Ricky and Arashi which made our stay very special. Gorgeous apartment-like accommodation looking out over the bridge—v high end, clean, classy. Delicious local fish meal at restaurant across the road—book through hotel as it’s tiny. Cycled up to Sakari port for the boat to Rabbit Island where we spent an hour or so cycling and seeing sweet rabbits and scary ruins. Then cycled on round north end of Omishima (one big hill, but manageable with good gears) and back down to the lovely public baths at Mare Gracia. Ricky from WAKKA picked us up in the free shuttle saving us the final bike ride. Thank you!
